Moving an offshore rig for Paragon

In February Jutlandia's Port Agency assisted the Paragon Tow Master in moving the Paragon Rig HZ1 to a new berth at the Port of Esbjerg.

HZ1 was positioned in front of the Paragon C20051, which is to go out for a job later in April. Paragon chose to move the HZ1 rig already, so divers could get below the C20051 before it is leaving the dock.

Paragon C20051 was to perform a UWILD (under Water Inspection in Lieu of Dry-docking) where Jutlandia also assisted.

The operation was performed for Paragon Offshore, who we have been working closely with since 2016. For Paragon we perform port agency including complete logistic setup, crew assistance and supply. Our agency-, stevedoring- and terminal department all take part in the various operations, our agency being the one point of contact consulting with the other departments for the operations if needed. For this job our agency was coordinating the whole operation and used our terminal workers for help on the dock.

HZ1 is a Paragon Offshore Jackup rig which has a rated water depth on 250 ft and a rated drilling depth on 35.000 ft.

When moving rigs, you use multiple tugs. The HZ1 rig was moved by two lead tugs and a port tug. The two lead tugs were tied to the rig with wires, while the port tug had the ability of sailing around the rig, having control as it moved through the water. When the rig was to be pushed to the dock, the three vessels pushed it into place while simultaneously tying a wire to the dock to keep it in position. The rig was placed in precise position within meter limit.

In the movie above you can see how the rig is steered in the water by the vessels and how we managed to get it into position at Doggerkaj.

The HZ1 rig is expected to stay at its current position ready to commence work later in 2018.

"..the way things are taken care of can often depict how an organization is run. When it comes to medical situations, it is very important that the proper steps are taken and the advice from Tommy & Mette yesterday on how we should proceed was clear and very professionally put across.
I would like to thank you and your team for your assistance on this matter and please pass on mine and the Willem’s sincere thanks for doing what you do.

Thanks, Bruce"
